University of the Highlands and Islands
Inverness College UHI is a partner in the University of the Highlands and Islands. offering courses and research opportunities throughout the Highlands & Islands of Scotland (including Moray and Perthshire) and beyond.
This is achieved through a partnership of colleges, research institutions and an associated learning centre network, located throughout the region.
UHI students normally study at a college or learning centre. Many take classes at large and busy campuses, while others access their courses through smaller learning centres in some of Britain’s most remote communities. Their tutors and classmates may be miles away, but trained staff will usually be nearby to give advice and help.
Since 1 August 2008 UHI has been able to award its own taught degrees, thanks to the achievement of taught degree awarding powers (tDAP), a major step
in the path towards gaining full university status.
Inverness College UHI hosts 25% of all UHI students and over 30% of those students studying for a degree. We lead the degrees in business and management, social sciences, electrical engineering, forestry and conservation and the MSc in infection control. We are also subject network leaders for business studies, building and social, cultural and environmental studies.
