Access to Further Education NQ (Intermediate 1)

This course is designed for applicants with little or no formal qualifications who are keen to apply for more advanced courses. The course aims to develop confidence as well as qualifications. Progression is possible to a range of care programmes. Subjects include IT, communication, study skills, numeracy, contemporary issues, holiday planning, customer care, accident and emergency procedures and introduction to the social world.

Entry requirements (mature students)

  • All applicants will take part in a series of activities including an interview and assessment.

  • Applications should be able to cope with study at Intermediate 1 level.

How is the course assessed?

Assessment takes place throughout each subject.

What next?

A range of courses at Intermediate 2 level may be accessed with this qualification. Success is measured as achieving 4 Intermediate 1 units including Communication plus a reference from the Studies Adviser.
