Health and safety
This section covers information about the college's health and safety policies, procedures and record. In some instances information will be exempt from disclosure where it contains personal information, or information which, if released, may substantially prejudice the commercial interests of any person or organisation, endanger the physical or mental health or safety of an individual, substantially prejudice the effective conduct of public affairs, or constitute an actionable breach of confidence.

The College has a Health and Safety policy included in the Health and Safety Manual which comprises 7 sections:

Each department compiles risk assessments, method statements and safe systems of work.
Annual Reports:
Reports to governing body on health and safety issues.
The College has a full-time Health and Safety Officer who reports quarterly to the Health and Safety Committee. Health and Safety is reported as a standing item at the Board of Management Audit Committee.
Monitoring:
Mechanisms for monitoring and reporting on health and safety issues.
The Health and Safety officer has a 6 monthly rolling programme of inspections and audits which are fully explained under their relevant arrangements in the Health and Safety manual.
Each department compiles risk assessments, method statements and safe systems of work.
The College reports to HSE under RIDDOR.
Statistics:
Summary statistics on accidents and incidents within the college.
Summary statistics on accidents and incidents are maintained by the Health and Safety Officer and are reported quarterly to the Health and Safety Committee.
Support structures:
Information on the college's support structures for health and safety.
The Health and Safety Officer is managed by the Director for HR and Organisational Development and reports quarterly to the Health and Safety Committee. Health and Safety is reported as a standing item at the Board of Management Audit Committee.
GMB and EIS trade unions recognised by the College have Health and Safety representatives.
