An Inverness College UHI Electrical Lecturer has sparked praise from the City & Guilds for his excellent delivery of education to students, whilst the College itself was also recognised for its high standard of teaching and training.
Electrical lecturer Denis MacKintosh was presented with a certificate from City & Guilds in recognition of his outstanding performance in the delivery of quality education and training to students and industry over many years at Inverness College UHI.
Meanwhile, Inverness College UHI itself received acclaim for the overall quality of its education provision to students of the Highlands and Islands – an important accolade for the College and everyone involved in the delivery of its education provision.
Denis, from Inverness, said: “I am very proud of the fact that the College has been recognised by City & Guilds in this way. I enjoy being part of a team that continues to raise quality standards in the education and training of those who have chosen a career in building and construction.”
Angus Macleod, MBE, Head of School of Construction and Forestry at Inverness College UHI, said: “I am delighted that our Electrical team and Denis have been recognised for the work undertaken on behalf of City & Guilds with whom the college has had an association for half a century. I also acknowledge the continuing dedication of staff teams in supporting the construction industry, particularly in these difficult economic times and I urge employers to continue to invest in modern apprenticeship training.”
John Spencer, Principal of Inverness College UHI and as Convenor of Principals’ Convention for Scotland’s Colleges, added: “This is a fine example of the good work carried out by staff at Inverness College UHI and I am pleased that Denis MacKintosh has been commended in this way.
“As Convenor of the Principals’ Convention for Scotland’s Colleges, it is also a tribute to the work carried out by colleges in Scotland across the full range of Further and Higher Education activity.”
