Career Coaching
- If you're in a hurry come in for a drop-in career coaching session and see the Guidance Officer for a 10-15 minute discussion without an appointment.
- If you are based out of the main College Campus the Guidance Officer will travel to Lochaber, Midmills or Forestry to see you on site if you would prefer.
- Drop-in sessions take place within a confidential area.
- The number of sessions is negotiable usually a maximum of four sessions.
- The Coaching session will help you clarify, focus, plan and take action, and may give you some information as well.
What is a coaching session for?
Here are a few examples of frequent questions asked:
- I haven't got a clue what I want to do. Where do I start?
- I can't find any jobs that interest me
- Can you look over my CV/application form?
- I've an interview coming up. How do I prepare, Can I have a practice?
- How do I gain work experience?
- I want to change my course. What should I do?
- How can I sell my experience for this job?
- How can I find out more about...?
Remember!
The more prepared you are before you come along to drop-in, the more efficient use you can make of the time available. If you need help with a CV or application form, prepare a draft copy first, a hard copy please, not on disk/USB. The Guidance Officer will give you tips on layout, format and content to help you make the most of what you have to offer.

Alternatively book an appointment for a more in-depth discussion with a Careers Scotland adviser on a Thursday mornings at the Longman Campus.
In the meantime, if you need immediate career advice, you can use the Careers Scotland drop in (no appointment needed, just turn up for a 15 minute session); details of opening times are 1.30 – 4.30 every day at the Longman campus. Please note that after signing up to drop-in, you might have to wait.
You may wish to pursue opportunities for continuing with your career or you may wish to find a completely new direction: either way you are welcome to discuss your future in confidence.
