Evaluation and the Data Protection Act
The factual information put on the initial appointment form, and the dates on which you come for counselling, are stored in a computer database. We use this information to compile anonymous statistics about the use of the service.
The counselling service complies with the requirements of the Data Protection Act 1998.
Inverness College counselling service uses a standard evaluation system, which has been developed to help providers of counselling and other psychological therapies to deliver and develop the best possible services to
clients seeking help for their difficulties and concerns.
As part of the system, all clients are asked to complete a brief questionnaire before and after their contact with the service. These questionnaires assist the counselling service in understanding your problems, and ultimately, the degree to which we help you with those problems. We hope you will agree to complete the questionnaires, but we would like to emphasise that participation is entirely voluntary and declining to complete them will not affect your counselling in any way.
In compliance with the Data Protection Act of 1998, it is necessary that clients give their explicit consent to the collection and processing of any identifiable data of a personal nature. Please assist us by signing the client consent form when it is presented to you.
