There are several options after the initial meeting:

(a) No further action, and the student is always welcome to make contact
again if necessary;

(b) referral to the college counsellor for further counselling, usually a further six sessions;

(c) referral to another source of help within the college;

(d) referral to an external organisation as agreed with the student or in accordance with the boundaries of confidentiality agreed with the student as part of managing the risk.

(e) If counselling is mutually agreed to be not appropriate by student and counsellor, you will be offered some sessions of personal support from the counsellor which may be more appropriate to your needs.

The counsellor generally works to a brief counselling model. This is because many people wish to use the counselling service, and this system cuts down the waiting time to a reasonable period.
