Students' association

Who are "we" then?
WE are YOU! If you are aged over 16 and enrolled on an Inverness College Course, then you are automatically a member of the democratic Students' Association, as we are “run by” and “run for” students.
We are also affiliated to the National Union of Students, which is a confederation of Students’ Associations. Thus, students of Inverness College make up the Inverness College Students' Association (ICSA), and ICSA and other Students' Association's across Scotland (the UK) make up NUS. This provides us with an strong and articulate NATIONAL voice.
For more information about NUS visit: www.nus.org.uk
But, what do we do?
A voice for students:
Well we have representatives (aka YOU!) who can attend a variety of different internal committees and the President, and a second Student Observee, sits on the College's Board of Management.
We also have an external voice, by attending NUS Conferences and ensuring Inverness College students’ voices are heard on a NATIONAL level.
Ok, ok, its not all meetings!! We are also FUN!
Visit the Students' Association website at IC My Voice
Events for students:
- Freshers' Fayre
- THE best Student Parties
- Re-Freshers' Fayre (February Time)
- SHAG Week (Sexual Health Advice and Guidance Week)
AND much, much more!!
Other things for students:
- Sell THE NUS Extra Discount Card
- Provide the allusive FREE CONDOMS!
- A highly practical FREE student diary
- Cheap stationery, for that last minute purchase……exam starting in 5 mins…..we have all been there
- Provide the pool tables in the Longman canteen – so treat them nice – or else!
Get involved!
Ok…..but we can only do these things with YOU!
We = YOU!
It can be as simple as having a VOICE that wants to be heard. Attend a Focus Group Meeting, speak to your Class Representative?
Ok….so you want to Get MORE INVOLVED! How about becoming a Class Rep??
More INVOLVED….YOU SAY? Well you could of course become an Executive Officer!
Maybe, you just want to have a good debate or join a Club or Society. For example, an LGBT Social Group – where you can meet in a safe space with other LGBT people and discuss campaign ideas?
