What is special about this course?

ECDL Extra builds on he learner's initial experiene and basic knowledge and improves their understanding of computer applications including word-processing, spreadsheets and presenation software.

Entry requirements

No formal entry requirements

Word Processing - This unit develops the learner’s ability to create word-processed documents, entering text, editing and formatting work and using graphs, tables and pictures for a professional finish.  The learners will also understand how to work more effectively using tools such as the spell-checker and mail merge.

Spreadsheet Software - This unit helps learners develop a working knowledge of spreadsheets from entering data and formatting worksheets through to creating charts and producing high quality documents.

Presentation Software - This unit introduces the learner to this important means of business communication.  Upon completion, learners will be capable of producing high quality presentations using a variety of tools including charts, graphs and drawn objects.

Improving Productivity using IT - This unit requires the inclusion of content that builds the learners ability to work more effectively with IT.  It looks at using tools to help save time and effort when producing word-processed documents, presentations and spreadsheets.

The course is delivered online using specially developed software.  If you would appreciate a short induction session, please contact us to arrange this.  Most people manage to find their way around very easily as the site is very user friendly.

The Modules can be undertaken in any order at and at your own pace.

How long will my course last?

Flexible course that enables you to gain computing skills and/or improve upon those you already have.

How will I be assessed?

Your progress will be monitored by ECDL staff at the College and you are welcome to drop into the workshops running at the College.  These take place at our Inverness Campus or at the Falcon Education Centre in Aviemore.
