Create Me: Hair and Beauty in a Digital World SCQF Level 4/5
What is special about this course?
This is an exciting project-based programme of study that brings together the creative worlds of hair and beauty through a social media lens. You will take your first steps into these industries and build skills that allow you to produce hairstyles and beauty looks for sharing on social media.
This course reflects the critical need for people working in the industry to engage with their customers online, spread more awareness of services and create brand loyalty, while responding to customer expectations and the rise in influencers on social media.
You will learn basic hair, skin, make-up and nail skills along with the required underpinning knowledge which will allow you to style hair, apply make-up and produce creative nails in a range of looks. This programme will also help develop the ICT skills and tools that can be used for presenting in social media.
You will need to be passionate, creative, committed and enjoy working with people. Throughout the course emphasis is on the development of employability skills and attitudes valued by employers.
Entry requirements
There are no formal entry requirements for this course however your personal statement should reflect your passion for this subject.
Applicants should have the ability to use your hands skillfully and enjoy meeting and working with people.

- Creative hairdressing images
- Introduction to Blow Drying Hair
- Introduction to Shampoo and Conditioning
- Introduction to Setting
- Introduction to Plait and Twist Hair
- Developing ICT skills for Social Media
- Bridal Evening Make up
- Day Make-up and Basic Corrective Make-up
- Nail Art: Free hand
- Skills Connect: Project level 4
How will I study my course?
The full time course is timetabled for up to 4 days per week between 9am and 5pm, with the possibility of an early evening session.
In the 2021/2 academic year, this course will be delivered by blended learning - a combination of face to face and remote learning. You will attend campus in person two days per week and you will access timetabled sessions remotely, via your computer or device, two days per week.

How long will my course last?
8 MonthsStudents can progress to SVQ 2 Hairdressing or NC Beauty Care SCQF Level 6 on successful completion of this programme.
