THE annual degree show featuring work from final year students studying art and design subjects at Inverness College UHI will take place in Inverness city centre for the first time.
RISE takes place at Inverness Museum and Art Gallery from Saturday 11th to 18th May and will celebrate the talent of students graduating from our BA (Hons) Contemporary Art and Contextualised Practice and BA (Hons) Visual Communication and Design programmes.
The free exhibition will showcase a diverse range of work from the students’ final submissions including socially aware contemporary art and design, illustration, textile design and technology.
Professor Chris O’Neil, principal of Inverness College UHI, said: “Our students are hugely talented and I’m delighted to see this annual degree show take place in a public venue like Inverness Museum and Art Gallery, where our students can share the results of their hard work with the wider public. I would encourage anyone with an interest in art and design to visit this exhibition and see for themselves the diverse, thought-provoking and innovative work of our soon to be graduates.”
The annual degree show traditionally takes place at Inverness College UHI, Inverness Campus, and is taking place at Inverness Museum and Art Gallery for the first time.
Kirsten Body, exhibitions contemporary art and engagement, High Life Highland, said: “High Life Highland is excited to be able to support new artists in the Highlands through showcasing Inverness College UHI’s final year art and design students at Inverness Museum & Art Gallery. We hope this exhibition will show the diversity of emergent talent from our area and bring their work to a wider public audience.”
The degree show has been sponsored by High Life Highland, The Art Society Highland, the Rotary Club of Loch Ness, and the Rotary Club of Inverness Culloden.
Inverness Museum and Art Gallery is open Tuesday to Saturday, 10am to 5pm.
