Are you interested in studying a humanities discipline?
Humanities is an umbrella term for a wide range of subjects that explore and analyse aspects of human society from a critical perspective. Humanities students learn about social issues, cultural values, and other valuable life skills that can be deployed in other areas of their life. The classes always have an atmosphere of open discussion among students where we want to hear what you think.
At UHI these include:
- Archaeology
- Criminology
- Culture Studies
- Gaelic Studies
- Geography
- History
- Literature
- Philosophy
- Politics
- Social Sciences
- Sociology
- Sustainable Development
- Theology (including MRPS teacher education)
Where can studying humanities subject take you?
Humanities students develop a range of qualities including communication, soft skills, critical thinking and graduates are best matched to professions that require an advanced understanding of humanity and society or skills in communication, critical thinking, and organization.
LinkedIn’s 2023 Most In-Demand Skills survey highlights the skills companies need most in today's economy. Topping the list is management skills. Communication, leadership, and teamwork are also high on the list. These skills help professionals succeed in an ongoing hybrid work environment which makes the need for human connection and communication skills more important than ever and companies need professionals who can do this well.
