This one-year course that builds on the material in National 5, concentrating on the topics needed for study in higher education. Calculus, vectors, exponential and logarithms are introduced with an emphasis throughout the course on problem solving and evaluation skills.
Entry requirements: National 5 pass in Maths at A or B
Mode of delivery: Online. Study requirements are 6 hours per week for the full year.
Duration: One academic year (August/September to May/June)
Higher Mathematics is often crucial for higher education courses. Students wishing to study many courses including all Science and Engineering degrees would benefit from having achieved Higher Mathematics. At Inverness College UHI there is scope for progression to HNC Applied Science, BSC Bioscience or BSc Environmental Science. In Engineering there is the potential for access to a variety of HNC and BEng degrees including Civil Engineering, Power Engineering, Engineering Systems and Electrical/Mechanical Engineering.
