Face to face
ESOL courses are designed for learners whose first language is not English. Learners will develop their reading, writing, listening, and speaking skills in the English language. The course is specifically designed to support school pupils studying other subjects at these levels.
This certificate recognises the ability to understand the main ideas of complex pieces of writing, to hold a conversation on a fairly wide range of topics, to express opinions and present arguments, to produce clear, detailed writing, expressing opinions and explaining the advantages and disadvantages of different points of view.
Entry requirements: Learners should be working at SCQF Level 5 in other curriculum subjects.
Mode of delivery: Face to face, Fridays, 9am to 3.30pm.
Duration: One academic year (August/September to May/June)
Next steps: Students can progress to Higher ESOL or apply for any suitable Inverness College UHI course.
