School visits programme
As part of the school PSE programme we would be delighted to arrange a visit, or a series of visits, to your school to raise awareness of the wide range of opportunities available at Inverness College UHI.
We value our relationship with schools and strive to create quality partnerships with staff, young people and their parents or carers. Our Schools team has embraced the Developing the Young Workforce agenda which complements our existing Vocational Pathways, Highers and SCQF level 7 provision. We can work with you on a needs-led basis to provide comprehensive information and guidance to your pupils and have a range of outreach options which fit well with the Curriculum for Excellence. Young people can develop the following Career Management Skills as detailed in the Career Education Standard:
- Develop personal awareness around likes, dislikes, strengths and weaknesses
- Gather, interpret and analyse career, learning and labour market information
- Explore options in learning and work and relate this to personal priorities and strengths
- Take action to build a career pathway
We collaborate on schools activities and events with partners such as Skills Development Scotland and Chamber DWY teams through out the year.
We are happy to attend parents evenings and option evenings to explain the opportunities that school / college courses can provide within the Senior Phase of Curriculum for Excellence.
We can attend school UCAS events to provide information on the UCAS process and stress the importance of good quality personal statements.
If you have a number of pupils interested in a specific area of study we can organise subject specific presentations from Inverness College UHI lecturers giving more detailed information on the subject area.
During the year we will host a number of subject specific events which will give information and insight into training and career opportunities within the industry of the subject area.
We can organise tours and visits to our new campus and, where resources permit and we can arrange taster sessions for small groups.
We have an existing range of courses that we deliver in partnership with schools which widen and strengthen provision within the framework of the Curriculum for Excellence.
These courses range from SCQF Level 1 through to Degree modules and also include Foundation Apprenticeship opportunities. Our social media pages are regularly updated and allow you to follow our activities, general information updates and good news stories about pupils.
