More than 200 Inverness College UHI students will celebrate graduation with their nearest and dearest at Eden Court Theatre on Thursday 4th October.

It’s the culmination of months of hard work for the students, who are celebrating successful completion of a range of qualifications form HNC to HND, Degree, Honours Degree and Postgraduate study.

Mr Hemingway will talk about his career spanning four decades in the design industry, the lessons he’s learned on that journey and why creativity has remained fundamental throughout.

From selling his and his wife’s vintage clothes on Camden Market to cover the cost of rental space for his band, Mr Hemingway went on to establish global fashion label Red or Dead and served as Director of the British Fashion Council.

He sold the label in a multi-million pound deal and started HemingwayDesign in 1999. With a focus on bringing creativity to housing, urban design and architecture, HemingwayDesign has delivered a number of high profile award-winning affordable new housing schemes, seaside regeneration projects and reinvented ‘troubled’ urban estates. He sits on The Trustee Board of the Commission for Architecture and the Built Environment and was chairman of the place-making campaign body Building For Life for eight years.

Professor Chris O’Neil, principal of Inverness College UHI, said: “I am thrilled Mr Hemingway has agreed to join us for this very special day. His talk promises to be thought-provoking, inspiring and memorable for all attending. His views on design, creativity, architecture and entrepreneurialism are particularly insightful and his visit is very well-time as Inverness College UHI seeks to further develop its Built Environment curriculum.”

Mr Hemingway added: “I am delighted to be invited to talk to graduates at Inverness College UHI and share some of my own experiences as they embark on their own journey beyond education. I am also looking forward to visiting the Highlands and finding our more about the University’s plans for the future.”

Students will be joined by teaching staff, friends and family for the Inverness College UHI graduation ceremony at Eden Court Theatre, which will be followed by a celebration reception at Inverness College UHI, Inverness Campus.
