The Rivers and Lochs Institute is part of Inverness College UHI, one of 13 partners and research institutions which make up the University of the Highlands and Islands.
Our facilities are based at Inverness Campus, a growing hub for research, innovation and entrprise, set within a 215-acre site.
- Research hub
Our research hub is based within Inverness College UHI and is equipped with high-spefication computers for bioinformatics, modelling, statistical analysis and geographic information systems.
- Biodiversity Management Applied Genomics (BioMAG) laboratory
Our laboratory is based at An Lòchran and is equipped with state of the art technology for molecular genetic analyses in support of biodiversity research, including a high throughput Next Generation sequencing machine (MiSeq).
- Mobile field laboratory
Our mobile field laboratory supports our research work as well as educational outreach programmes in schools. It includes basic laboratory facilities and sampling equipment including aerial and aquatic drones.
