Degree Module: Introduction to Early Childhood Philosophy and Practice
The aim of this module is to introduce you to early childhood philosophy and related curricular practice.
This module is relevant for students considering a career as a primary school teacher or as an early years practitioner. Throughout the duration of the module you have access to a mixture of learning resources and supportive interactive activities. You are able to interact, seek support, share developing understanding and learn from each other using online technologies.

Access all of your learning or assessments via Brightspace, our virtual learning environment, or Google classrooms using a mixture of self directed study and online discussion boards.
Duration Available to study semester one (18 weeks), September to January
• Demonstrate an understanding of early childhood philosophy;
• Identify and investigate both historical and contemporary perspectives that have influenced the development of early childhood philosophy;
• Describe the themes and characteristics of curriculum frameworks in early childhood;
• Demonstrate an understanding of current curriculum policy, practice and strategies that support an early childhood curriculum.
Degree level study in care depending on additional qualifications and experience.
Students should have one relevant A-C pass at Higher level.
