The Foundation Apprenticeship in Social Services and Healthcare will give you an insight into the rewarding career opportunities within the care sector, supporting and caring for vulnerable people helping them live in comfort and dignty - supporting people when they need it most.

Social service workers can work with a variety of clients including:

  • older people
  • children or adults with physical/sensory and/or learning difficulties
  • children or adults with autistic spectrum disorder/mental health problems

Working in partnership with a wide variety of local care providers, young people will gain a unique insight into the sector helping them to make a more informed decisionabout their future career and study options. This also develops self confidence, problem solving and leadership skills.

This Foundation Apprenticeship offers you an exciting opportunity to gain invaluable practical work experience and industry recognised qualifications. Employers will offer a range of activities including industry talks, site visits, projects and work placements which will enable pupils to work in active, busy care environments.

Entry requirements

Three passes at National 5 ideally including a literacy subject.

You should enjoy working in a fast-paced environment, be able to work in teams and on your own, customer-focussed and able to solve problems.

You will be able to demonstrate an understanding of the sector and have an interest in working in it.

A PVG check will be required.
