This one-year course is designed to provide an introduction to using mathematics to solve real-life problems and to begin exploring important mathematical concepts used both in later courses and outside the classroom. Assessments is in the form of ongoing tests and a final added value unit assessment.

- Straightforward expressions and formula, including algebra, geometry and statistics.
- Solving equations and using basic trigonometry to solve algebraic and geometrical problems.
- Numeracy in real life contexts of money, time and measurement.
