Course fees
It is important to plan how you will finance your studies well in advance of starting your course.
Funding sources available to you depend, in the first instance, on where you come from, but also include funding for disabled and part-time students.
Studying full-time
If you are studying on a full-time further education programme and you meet the residency criteria, tuition fees are waived.
If you are studying a full-time higher education programme, and you live in Scotland, your fees will normally be paid by the Student Awards Agency for Scotland (SAAS), which also provides access to student loans and a range of other support.
Please note that the fee you pay will depend on your personal circumstances. Please contact our Student Support Team for guidance.
Studying part-time
If you receive certain state benefits you may not have to pay tuition fees for part-time day or evening class courses (excluding leisure and commercial courses), for example:
- Universal Credit/Income Support
- Job Seekers Allowance
- Incapacity Benefit
- DLA (Disability Living Allowance)
- Working Tax Credit
- PIP (Personal Independence Payment)
To apply for a fee waiver, you must complete a Fee Waiver Application Form and provide the appropriate evidence (no older than 6 months). Application forms and more information on few waivers are available from the Student Support Team. Email studentsupport.ic@uhi.ac.uk or telephone 01463 273 208.
Part-time fee grants are also available if you are studying part-time (completing between 30-119 credits) at SCQF level 7 to 10. Visit SAAS or email partimefeegrant@scotland.gsi.gov.uk for more information.
Self financing
If you are eligible to pay fees, we offer a helpful payment plan for balances above £250 (maximum six monthly instalments). The first instalment must be paid on or before enrolment. We access a variety of payment methods.
For queries regarding payment of course fees, including payment plans, please email: credit.control.ic@uhi.ac.uk or telephone 01463 273 344.
Please ensure you have your student identification number to hand when contacting our finance department.
Employer/sponsorship payment
If you're employer intends to pay your fees, please provide Inverness College UHI with a sponsorship letter from your employer including your name, the course they intend to sponsor you for and a purchase order for the full amount. This letter should be sent to the finance department prior to your enrolment and no later than 14 days from the course start date, otherwise you may be personally liable for your fees. Email credit.control.ic@uhi.ac.uk. You can also ask your employer to contact us directly.
