Interested in a further education course?

Sometimes gaining additional work experience and qualifications at the same level as National 5s or Highers can make all the difference to a degree application the following year. We offer further education courses such as Highers, National Progression Awards and National Certificates which not only bolster your portfolio of qualifications but also offer you 40 hours of work related learning per course within the relevant industry such placements, volunteering and simulated environments. 

We call this further education which is any study which is not part of an undergraduate degree or a graduate qualification and you can see these on our Scottish Credit and Qualifications Framework Level 6.

Interested in a higher education course?

Higher education includes any study that’s part of an undergraduate or graduate degree, starting from Scottish Credit and Qualifications Framework Level 7.

This includes Higher National Certificates (HNCs), Higher National Diplomas (HNDs) and Degrees.

UCAS Clearing opens on Thursday 5th July and runs until mid-September. It allows students who don't have a university place to find a course.

What if I haven’t applied yet?

You can still apply to start in September through our late application process. Find a course on our website that you’re interested in and follow the instructions on the apply button.

Applications for full-time degrees will be directed to the UCAS website where you should register and make your application.

When you submit your application you will receive a welcome email to access the UCAS Track service where you’ll find your Clearing Number. You can then call the University of the Highlands and Islands UCAS helpline on 0845 272 3600 to apply for a place on the course and speak to our dedicated team.

Are you eligible for UCAS Clearing?

You can take part in Clearing if you have already applied through UCAS and you are in one of the following categories:

  • You applied through UCAS after 30th June;
  • You have had all your UCAS offers rejected;
  • You have not received an offer through UCAS;
  • You have not met the conditions of the UCAS offer;
  • You have not made an application yet.

You know you are eligible for clearing once your UCAS Track status has been changed to show you are in Clearing. If you status is not updated, your application may still be under consideration and you should call our Admissions Team on 01463 273480 for further information.

To apply for a Clearing place at Inverness College UHI, find a course that you are interested in and call the University of the Highlands and Islands UCAS helpline on 0845 272 3600. You will need your Clearing number, which will be display on your UCAS Track page, and UCAS ID to hand.
