Professional Cookery SCQF Level 6

What is special about this course?

The SVQ Level 6 Professional Cookery Course gives you the opportunity to build upon the basic skills that were acquired on successful completion of the SVQ Level 5 Professional Cookery course. The course provides a platform for you to enhance your skills in the preparation, production and finishing of a wide range of sweet and savoury dishes in our Sheiling training kitchen and Restaurant.

This course is an excellent choice for both for students aiming to gain employment in the catering industry or progress onto further study. The course is delivered by highly qualified chef lecturers who all have extensive experience in the industry and is structured to include a significant number of practical units backed up with knowledge-based theory.

Entry requirements

  • Evidence of experience in this subject should be demonstrated in your personal statement and may be subject to a skills assessment.
  • All applicants will be interviewed to assess their experience and ability in professional cookery.
  • SCQF Level 5 Professional Cookery

 

The focus of the course is to develop the skills and knowledge, which are required to actively participate in a professional kitchen environment. The units covered on our level 6 course reflect produce available locally and being used within industry in Scotland such as fresh shellfish, Scottish beef, and fresh fish.

    If you have been living in the UK for at least 3 years, are ordinary resident in Scotland before the course start date it is likely that you will not have to pay fees for your full time course.  Please check our Fee Waiver Policy.

    Full time students will automatically receive the fee waiver if they are eligible. We will use the information provided on your course application form to determine whether you are eligible.

    Funding

    You may be eligible to apply for an Educational Maintenance Allowance or Bursary.

    Additional costs
