What is special about this course?

This Level 6 course provides students with an introduction to the construction industry with a specific focus on new sustainable building technologies and construction techniques. This will give you an essential introduction to how green skills, along with retro-fit technologies, are used in the wider industry including practical applications.


The course will give you a multitude of interdisciplinary skills to prepare you  for the world of work or further study. It will incorporate:

  • Drawing skills
  • Calculations
  • Design elements
  • Domestic construction with a sustainability focus
  • Green skills
  • Practical workshops
  • Live projects
  • Multiple progression pathways
  • Industry involvement

The course is specifically designed to improve literacy, numeracy, and ICT skills. All related assignments will be directly linked to the practical units, with research and presentation skills encouraged. This will allow you to progress onto various pathways including HNC Construction, Construction Modern Apprenticeship or Graduate Apprenticeships.


 

Entry requirements

At least one National 5 at grade C or above 

Learners are likely to benefit more readily from studying this award if they enter with a general and broad academic ability showing an aptitude at SCQF level 4 and above for English, Mathematics and other related technical and graphical subjects.
