Beauty Therapy SVQ3

What is special about this course?

SVQ 3 beauty therapy at SCQF 6 will provide the knowledge, skills and understanding required to become a beauty therapist. The qualification is approved by the hairdressing and Beauty therapy Industry Authority (HABIA) and has been designed to ensure the relevance of units meets the beauty industry requirements.  Students carry out treatments during term time on clients in our salons that are equipped with the latest equipment and technology. 

 

The qualification has both mandatory and optional units for you to achieve. The mandatory units provide underpinning knowledge in body massage, face and body electrical and contributing to the planning of promotional activities. These are key for progression into Higher education and meet the requirements of employers. Optional units enhance already gained skills, with the use of pre blended oils, tanning and fashion and photographic make up. 

Our fully equipped training salons offer the perfect setting to practice your new-found skills in a commercial environment.   

We partner with amazing professional brands offering free product training and additional practical training to further enhance your learning, as well as the opportunity to be involved in community and charity events, external training, trade shows and competitions. 

To succeed in beauty therapy, you will need to be passionate, committed and enjoy working with people. 

Support is available from student services and lecturers to assist you throughout your course.

Entry requirements

  • SVQ 2 Beauty Therapy 

Units may include: 

  • Contribute to the planning, implementation, and evaluation of promotional activities. 
  • Provide body massage treatments. 
  • Provide Facial electrical treatments. 
  • Design and create fashion and photographic make-up. 
  • Carry out massage using pre-blended oils. 
  • Provide self-tanning treatments. 

Equipment

Optional activities that may incur an additional cost include: 

  • Professional trade show visits 
  • Continuous professional development (CPD) activities
