UK DNA Working Group Conference 2024
The Institute for Biodiversity and Freshwater Conservation (IBFC) at UHI Inverness hosted the 10th anniversary of the UK DNA Working Group Conference on 25 -26 April 2024, at the UHI House, Inverness. The two-day event brought together over 120 delegates from research institutions, government agencies, and stakeholder organisations engaged in DNA-based biodiversity monitoring and assessment.
Conference Highlights
The conference featured a dynamic and diverse program (2024 UK DNA WG Conference ), including keynote presentations, regular talks, speed presentations, and three parallel workshops. Key themes included:
- Innovative applications of DNA tools for monitoring anthropogenic impacts and supporting conservation and restoration initiatives.
- Advancements in bioinformatics and technology to enhance DNA-based monitoring capabilities.
- Development of metrics and analytical tools for interpreting DNA-derived biodiversity data.
- Stakeholder experiences in implementing and operating DNA-based monitoring approaches.
