Eleanor Rutherford

After completing her MSc in organisational psychology, Eleanor worked for a FTSE100 company as an occupational psychologist, receiving her chartered status in 2006.  She set up her own business in 2008 before moving into academia in 2012.  As well as lecturing and research, she continues to work independently as a psychologist, providing coaching and consultancy services to business and individual clients. She is qualified to use both occupational and forensic questionnaires in ability and personality.

Her research interests encompass her dual roles within applied and academic psychology and cover emotional regulation and its role within career management, the intersection of personality and ability and its impact on problem-solving and decision making within specific industries, and the impact of personality in the workplace after lockdown. Her experience within psychometrics has led her to look at gamification and its role within personality measurement. Eleanor is actively involved in the BPS and served as Chair of the Division of Occupational psychology in 2012 and on the BPS Scotland committee from 2020-2023.
