Education:

Katie was educated at the University of Edinburgh where she obtained an MA (Hons) in Psychology and an MSc. in Social Psychology. Both dissertation projects were focussed in the area of romantic relationships.

Research Interests:

Katie’s research interests lie within the romantic relationships literature. She is particularly interested in the psychological processes associated with how couples can maintain happy, fulfilling relationships, and how couples build effective strategies when faced with challenging situations. E.g., how do some of the choices we make on our own or together have an impact on our relationship, wellbeing, and health? She is also interested in the motivations that underlie the dissolution of relationships.

Katie is primarily a quantitative psychologist carrying out dyadic correlational studies in her research.

Professional Experience:

Katie has worked as a Lecturer in Psychology at UHI Perth since 2019 covering a variety of different modules at many levels. Previously, she has worked at the University of Edinburgh as a Project Manager and Research Assistant of an ESRC-funded research project investigating daily relationship and wellbeing outcomes among couples. Additionally, she volunteered as a Research Associate of the Health and Relationship Processes (HARP) lab at the University of Edinburgh and continues to work as an ad-hoc reviewer for the Journal of Social and Personal Relationships.
