What is special about this course?
The NEBOSH National General Certificate in Occupational Health and Safety is a qualification designed to help those with health and safety responsibilities (e.g. managers, supervisors and employee representatives) to discharge more effectively their organisational duties and functions.
The NEBOSH National General Certificate has been accredited and credit rated by Qualifications Scotland. It sits in the Scottish Credit and Qualifications Framework (SCQF) at SCQF Level 6 with 15 SCQF credit points. The course offers excellent grounding in the fundamentals of occupational health and safety management.
UHI Inverness has been awarded the silver standard from NEBOSH as a learning partner, this means that we exceed the six learning principles for NEBOSH accreditation.

The NEBOSH General Certificate is the most widely recognised health and safety qualification of its kind, providing line managers and staff with a sound understanding of the principles of risk management.

There are no formal entry requirements for this qualification, however it is important that learners have a good standard of the English language in order to understand and articulate the concepts contained in the syllabus.
NEBOSH advises that candidates for this certification have a minimum level of English proficiency equal to the International English Language Testing System (IELTS) IELTS score of 6.0 or above.
Learners who are unsure of their English language level can visit the IELTS website.
