Art and Design (Portfolio) NC SCQF Level 6

What is special about this course?

This is a broad based National Certificate course in art and design course which allows you to build a competitive portfolio to meet the national standard required for entry into higher education subjects or entry into art and design based employment. You will explore a range of subjects to enable you to consider your next course or career steps. This is an interesting programme with a mixture of practical and related theoretical content that will allow you to explore a range of disciplines.

Entry requirements

All applicants will be interviewed and will be expected to provide a portfolio of work to contain a minimum of 10 pieces showing a range of work both in colour and black and white, showing tonal drawings, colour blending in painting and 3D drawings along with any digital and photography work. The interview forms an important part of the selection process.

School leavers

  • Four National 5s at C or above to include Art and Design and English/Communication; or equivalent

We also welcome applications from those who have left school or are entering or  returning to study as a mature student.

    If you have been living in the UK for at least 3 years, are ordinary resident in Scotland before the course start date it is likely that you will not have to pay fees for your full time course.  Please check our Fee Waiver Policy.
