Introduction to Beauty SCQF Level 4

What is special about this course?

This programme is highly practical in nature and is aimed at those who have little or no experience in beauty and who may have recently left school. This is aimed at anyone who wishes to pursue a career in the Beauty Industry and who wish to gain experience in beauty and some hairstyling. Introducing them to the industry allowing the learner to decide if progression to full time study in this field is for them.

The course would also suit those who may have been away from further education for a while by developing the confidence and skills necessary to tackle a full time programme in beauty. 

Due to the practical nature of this course face to face delivery is mandatory.

Entry requirements

  • There are no formal entry requirements for this course however your personal statement should reflect your passion for this subject.
  • Applicants should enjoy meeting and working with people.

The programme will allow students to develop basic skills in a variety of subjects including:

  • Facial skin care and make-up
  • Manicure and creative nail finishes
  • Hairstyling and introduction.
  • Creative Face and Body painting for Events.
  • Introduction to Shoulders, Neck and head Massage.
  • Introduction to Facials
  • Introduction to Shampoo and Blow Dry
  • Digital Skills to Enhance Creativity. 

There will also be opportunities to develop your core skills.

How will I study my course?

  • Full Time

Course assessment takes place throughout each unit and will include written tests, projects, assignments and other forms of assessment including observation in the commercial salons.

    If you have been living in the UK for at least 3 years, are ordinary resident in Scotland before the course start date it is likely that you will not have to pay fees for your full time course.  Please check our Fee Waiver Policy.

    Full time students will automatically receive the fee waiver if they are eligible. We will use the information provided on your course application form to determine whether you are eligible.

    Additional costs

    What can I do on completion of my course?

    Progression onto SVQ 2 Beauty therapy or SVQ 2 Hairdressing.

    Employment in local salons as a trainee beauty therapist.
