Barbering SVQ2 SCQF Level 5

What is special about this course?

This exciting practical course provides you with the training needed to pursue a career in barbering.

You will study a combination of theory and practical units to complete the SVQ 2 Barbering certificate. 

Entry requirements

Your personal statement should reflect your passion for the industry.  Applicants should be effective communicators, good personal presentation, physical stamina and a high level of manual dexterity.

Ideally applicants may have experience, knowledge and interest in barbering or hold 3 passes at General grade National 4 including English or ESOL 4. 

If you are a mature student without the above your application will be considered on life skills.

  • Cut hair using basic barbering techniques
  • Cut facial hair to shape using basic techniques
  • Dry and finish men's hair
  • Shampoo, condition and treat the hair and scalp
  • Develop and maintain effectiveness at work
  • Create basic outlines and detailing in hair

Fee information for FULL TIME SVQ2

If you have been living in the UK for at least 3 years, are ordinary resident in Scotland before the course start date it is likely that you will not have to pay fees for your full time course.  Please check our Fee Waiver Policy.

Full time students will automatically receive the fee waiver if they are eligible. We will use the information provided on your course application form to determine whether you are eligible.
