Is relaxation, health and wellbeing at the top of your list? Then this massage course is for you. Learn a range of massage skills and techniques to help you start an exciting new career within beauty therapy. You will work on clients in our simulated beauty salon environment on campus.

Our course will provide you with formal qualifications and includes Scottish Qualification Authority (SQA) units on the following:

  • Body massage

Develop consultation and effective communication skills, whilst practicing body massage techniques with the use of mechanical massage and heat treatments. You will learn:

- Different massage techniques to include ‘no hands massage’ and electrical modalities such as Audio Sonic, Infra-red and G5.
- The physiological and psychological effects of body massage on the systems of the body and the skin.
- Correct pressure and posture during treatment.
- How to give appropriate aftercare and lifestyle advice.

  • Signature massage

Boost your treatment menu with additional holistic treatments, to include two of the following signature massage techniques— stone, shell, cane/bamboo and herbal compress. You will research all the signature massage treatments and their benefits, while learning the practical application of two techniques. 

  • Work placement

We will simulate the work placement during your client sessions in our beauty salon environment on campus. You will also develop work-related skills such as CV writing and identify development opportunities to help prepate you for the workplace. 

Day and time: Weekly, Wednesday, 6pm to 9pm

Course length: 30 weeks

Start date: 26 October 2022

End date: 2nd June 2023

Delivery mode: Face to face, on campus

SCQF level: This course represents 30 SCQF credits and is delivered at SCQF level 7.

Course fee: £344

You could be eligible for financial support to pay your course fee if you earn less than £25,000 per annum and meet residency criteria. Find out more about the Student Awards Agency Scotland Part Time Fee Grant.

If you are not eligible for the part time fee grant, you may take advantage of paying your course fees in instalments. Payment can be spread over 3 months, with the first payment of approximately £115 payable before starting the course.
