Dr Lindsay Snodgrass

Dr Lindsay Snodgrass is Vice Principal Curriculum, Student Experience and Quality.  She has over 20 years' experience working across the Scottish education sector, and over 10 years' experience in senior leadership roles in the tertiary sector.

Lindsay's doctoral research was undertaken at the University of Glasgow and explored the further education journeys of learners and care experience in Scotland's colleges.  This research was within the context of the Scottish Funding Council's National Ambition for Care Experienced Students for equal outcomes by 2030.  Lindsay's research considers the impact of care experiences upon further education journeys, using the concept of social capital as a theoretical lens to aid a deeper understanding of the impact of care experience.  Providing insights into the current barriers and enablers in meeting the national aspirational target, Lindsay provides recommendations for the SFC and the college sector.

In her role a Vice Principal, Lindsay has used her research to inform strategy and practice within UHI Inverness to improve the experiences and outcomes of learners with care experience.  She is currently exploring further opportunities to publish her research and hopes to shine a light on the long term structural and systemic changes required to achieving equal outcomes by 2030.

As Chair of the Highland Promise Board, Lindsay is passionate about the wider aspirations of The Promise, the national commitment to fundamentally change the care system and life chances of children and young people with care experience.
