Graduation is a special day when you get to celebrate your achievements in the presence of friends and family.  It’s also a special day for our staff, who are incredibly proud of you.

If you have successfully completed a higher education course (including HNC, HND, Degree, through to Postgraduate level study) and aren’t intending to progress in your studies with us, you will be eligible to graduate.

The UHI Inverness Graduation ceremony takes place at Eden Court Theatre, Inverness, at 11.30am on Thursday 29 September followed by a celebratory reception at UHI Inverness, 1 Inverness Campus.

Registration is now open for our Graduation ceremony on Thursday 29 September. Please enter 'UHI Inverness' in institution details.

Remember to: 

  • Register your attendance for the ceremony at Eden Court Theatre, Inverness, including any guest tickets.
  • Order your gown.
  • Book official photography (optional)
  • Register your attendance for the celebratory reception at UHI Inverness, 1 Inverness Campus, including any guest tickets (optional)

  • 17 August 2022: Registration for our Graduation ceremony on Thursday 28 September 2022 opens.
  • 17 August 2022 to 23 September 2022: Eligible students should register via our Graduation portal run by our official partners, Ede and Ravenscroft. On this portal you should: register your attendance for the ceremony, including any guest tickets; order your gown; book official photography (optional) and register your attendance to attend the celebratory reception at UHI Inverness (optional).
  • 23 September 2022: Registration closes.

You are eligible to graduate if:

  • You have successfully completed your studies in an HNC, HND, Degree or Postgraduate qualification;
  • You are not intending to progress to the next level of study with us;
  • You have been notified of your award by the University of the Highlands and Islands.

All eligible students will receive an email from the Graduation Team at UHI Inverness providing instructions on how to register. If you don’t receive this email by 22 August please contact us.

Graduands should register to attend Graduation via our official supplier Ede and Ravenscroft before the deadline of 23 September. Click here to register. Via this online portal, you need to confirm your attendance for both the ceremony and our celebratory reception, confirm the number of guests you wish to take, order your academic gown and hood and book official photography (optional).

9am to 11am: Graduands to arrive at Eden Court Theatre, Inverness, and register in the main foyer.

  • Students should pick up their ticket from the UHI Inverness registration desk. Guest tickets will be available from the Booking Office at Eden Court Theatre on the morning of Graduation.
  • After registering, graduands should pick up their gown from Ede and Ravenscroft, who will be located on the second floor.
  • Once gowned, graduands who have booked official photography should make their way to the One Touch Theatre for photography.
  • Registration closes at 11am. Graduands arriving late may not be allowed to participate.

Please note, parking at Eden Court Theatre is limited and parking charges apply. Alternative paid for parking is available nearby at the Inverness Cathedral car park and Ross Street multi-storey. 

11am: Doors to the Empire Theatre will open for graduands and students.

11.30am: Ceremony commences.

1pm: Ceremony ends.

1.15pm: Coaches leave Eden Court Theatre to transport graduands and guests to the celebratory reception at UHI Inverness (optional). Coaches will depart from the coach bays at Eden Court Theatre.

1.30pm: Coaches arrive at UHI Inverness for the celebratory reception.

2.30pm: Coaches leave UHI Inverness travelling back to Eden Court Theatre for drop-off.

Guest tickets

Graduands are entitled to two guest tickets. You should select the number of guest tickets you want when you register. All guests, including babies and children, must have a ticket. This is to ensure we stay within capacity requirements at Eden Court Theatre.

Additional guest tickets for the ceremony and celebration may be available via a ballot once we know final numbers. If you wish to apply for additional guest tickets, please email

Graduands will not be seated with guests. Graduands will be allocated seats at the front of the theatre. It’s important graduands sit in their allocated seats to ensure awards are presented in the correct order.

Graduands and guests should present their tickets to theatre staff, who will direct them to the correct seat.

If you/your guests have additional support needs and require appropriate arrangements, you’ll be given the option to tell us when you register via the Graduation portal. If you have any questions, or want to request additional support, you can contact our Graduation team.

Dress code and robe hire

All graduands must wear the appropriate academic gown/hood on stage. These should be hired at the time of registration via the Graduation portal and can be collected at Eden Court Theatre on the day.  Please remember to bring your booking card.

Gowns can be returned to Ede and Ravenscroft at Eden Court Theatre after the ceremony. Alternatively, if you are attending the celebratory reception after the ceremony, gowns can be left at UHI Inverness.

The ceremony is formal, so please come smartly dressed (no jeans). National dress is welcomed!

Photography content



Ede and Ravenscroft is the official photographer for our graduation ceremony.

Official photography is optional and should be booked at the time of registration via the Graduation portal.  Ede and Ravenscroft will open for photography from 9am. Photography will be set up in the One Touch Theatre at Eden Court Theatre.

UHI Inverness will take unofficial photography/video on the day for marketing purposes.

Celebratory reception

The graduation ceremony at Eden Court Theatre will be followed by a celebratory reception at UHI Inverness (optional).

If you wish to attend the celebratory reception, please let us know via our Graduation portal when you register.

Coaches will leave Eden Court Theatre to transport graduands and guests to the celebratory reception at UHI Inverness. Coaches will depart from Eden Court Theatre at 1.15pm.

The drinks reception and buffet is an opportunity to mingle with staff and take your own photographs on campus.

Coaches will leave UHI Inverness at 2.30pm to transport graduands and guests back to Eden Court Theatre.  

Please note, there is no charge for the celebratory reception/coach transport.

When you register via the Graduation portal, you will be asked if you wish your name and award to be included in local newspaper listings and the Graduation booklet, which is given to all graduands at the start of the ceremony. It’s important you provide consent for this during the registration process.
