Inverness College UHI partners Macdonald Aviemore Hotel and Resort to provide chef training through FDWF

Inverness College UHI has teamed up with the Macdonald Aviemore Hotel and Resort to deliver training to its new trainee chefs through the Flexible Development Workforce Fund (FDWF).

As a UK Apprenticeship Levy payer, the hotel and resort applied for the fund through Inverness College UHI and was successful, obtaining £10,000 towards training.

It is now using the money to upskill its trainee chefs, who will study towards an SVQ2 in Professional Cookery with Inverness College UHI while working, earning and receiving on the job training.

The Macdonald Aviemore Hotel and Resort is now looking for candidates! This is a fantastic opportunity for a school leaver interested in a future career in the hospitality industry. Posts are now being advertised at careers.macdonaldhotels.co.uk. Successful applications will receive free accommodation at the resort, chef whites and a set of knives worth £80 on starting.

Trainee chefs will study for their SVQ between March and May, with assessment in the workplace and regular masterclasses with Macdonald’s executive/regional chefs. Trainees will be required to attend one 5-day block at Inverness College UHI as part of the training.
