This seminar will discuss Bringing Business to the Community and Creating our Future Workforce. We are delighted to have Alli Vass, representing the Inverness and Cromarty Firth Green Freeport, Colin Marr representing Inverness Chamber of Commerce, Professor Vicky Johnson and Dr Sarah Wagner representing the Centre for Living Sustainability at UHI Inverness, Ian Freeman as Lead for the Scottish Government's Climate Legislation and Adaptation team along with Carrie Higgins, Tertiary Education Leader at UHI Inverness.

For this year's seminar, we will be joined by -

  • Alli Vass, Powerhouse Manager at Inverness and Cromarty Firth Green Freeport who will give us an insight into the role of the Powerhouse as a vehicle to bring businesses and academia together to ensure people are equipped to benefit from the new opportunities and employers have the skilled workforces they require
  • Colin Marr, Chief Executive from Inverness Chamber of Commerce will discuss the role of the Chamber in supporting member businesses to make connections as well as achieving their international ambitions.
  • Vicky Johnson and Sarah Wagner from the Centre for Living Sustainability will discuss how the Centre can assist businesses by training teams to undertake Community Assessment and Action (CAA) research for community engagement and to develop systems to understand social impact.
  • Carrie Higgins will discuss the role of UHI Inverness to ensure it offers the courses and training required for our future workforce whether that is young people and school leavers or the reskilling of our mature workforce to align us with future requirements
  • Ian Freeman, the Lead for the Scottish Government's Climate Legislation and Adaptation team will keep us on track and review each session as well as giving us an insight on his role.  

A buffet tea is included so please ensure you book a place and advise us of any dietary requirements.
