Kwadwo Obiri

Kwadwo Obiri is a supply researcher at the Centre for Living Sustainability.  His research work explores the intersections of energy policy, sustainability, community development and mixed method inquiry.  His research interests focus on how communities navigate sustainability transitions, particularly in regions facing structural, geographic and energy system challenges such as the Highlands and Islands.  He is interested in practical, place-based approaches that strengthen local resilience, support community-led innovation and enable fair, inclusive pathways to decarbonisation.

His academic background includes a PhD in Sustainability and Policy Development, complemented by professional experience across UK energy systems and government programmes.  This combination shapes his commitment to applied research that connects policy, practice and lived experience.  Within the Centre for Living Sustainability, his work contributes to projects that bridge academic insight with real world challenges, supporting UHI's mission to help communities thrive through sustainable development, evidence-based decision making and collaborative engagement.
