1-day Informative Workshop

This workshop is aimed at entrants of our business competition as well as staff and students of UHI and members of the community who are interested in taking the next step to start up their business and includes lunch.

We have been joined previously by various speakers including -

  • David Massey from the Apprentice Store - explaining about the social purpose and impact a small business can have across people and planet.  
  • Alison Harrison from Impact Hub - giving details on the business support services offered by the Impact Hub to SMEs and social and community enterprises across the north of Scotland
  • Andy Glasgow from the Royal Bank of Scotland - advising on what benefits a business account can offer
  • Sean Kelman and Lewis Mitchell from Johnston Carmichael - delivering a session on what business structure best suits your business as well as other 'must know' regarding accounts and tax.
  • Rene Looper from Tuminds Social Media - advising on how to effectively market your business including social media

You will also get a chance to network and take part in activities that will help you complete an action plan to develop and/or grow your business.

This workshop is usually delivered in Inverness but has also been delivered in Broadford in Skye, Stornoway in the Isle of Lewis, Kirkwall in Orkney and Scalloway in Shetland.
