Digital interventions in care homes
Researchers: Sarah Wagner, Mari Todd, Laura Graham (Student Researcher, MSc Psychology Conversion)
Care home residents can experience high levels of social isolation. This research considers the challenges that arise when new digital communication tools are used in care homes, and how digital interventions can be better designed to bring sustained positive benefits. Partnering with a care home in northwest Scotland, the project collaborated with staff, residents and family to design processes and practices for using new technologies for place-making and social and community connections, including a touchscreen table and Virtual Reality (VR).
