UHI Inverness has partnered with the Civil Engineering Contractors Association (CECA) to deliver an NPA in Construction Operations with a guaranteed job interview at the end!

This 18-week course is aimed at school leavers interested in moving into a career in civil engineering – it’s the infrastructure that’s built around us, everything from roads, railways and bridges to water and power supply, sewage works, and flood alleviation.

This highly practical, hands-on programme is being run as a national pilot to address the skills shortage in the industry. On successful completion, students will be guaranteed an interview as a civil engineering operative with a CECA employer - a role that commands an average UK salary of £37,866*

This course is the perfect stepping stone for a self-motivated person who wants to use their skills to plan, design, develop, manage, and maintain critical infrastructure that we all rely on.

Employers have signed up to CECA to guarantee a 75% employment rate.

How will I study? content

How will I study?

This programme will be studied full time at the Scottish School of Forestry, Monday to Friday over one semester.

It aims to develop the next generation of civil engineering operatives in Scotland.

The course will include site visits to establish industry links and prepare you for future employment. On successful completion, you will gain a NPA qualification in civil engineering.
