Inverness College UHI Board of Management seeks new Board members

The Board of Management of Inverness College UHI is recruiting up to six new Board members.

The Board has responsibility for the governance and oversight of the work of the College by providing it with strategic leadership, guidance and direction, as it seeks to continue to deliver a high-quality student experience, while developing strong links with key partners, including employers, government, local organisations, schools and industry bodies.

It is looking for people with a wider range of skills and expertise, who understand the value of education and training and want to give back to their community. In particular, successful applicants will oversee some key work, including implementation of the College’s new strategic plan and organisational developments including change management, hybrid working, distributed leadership, and a new talent management strategy.

Mark Sheridan, interim Chair of the Board of Management, said: 'This is a crucial point in time for all of us involved in education. Covid-19 and Brexit have forced us all to think differently about how we deliver courses and training for our students and how best we can serve our communities. It is also an exciting time in the development of the College and its relationship with the University of the Highlands and Islands. We are looking for experienced board members with a range of expertise to support us in the next stage of that journey.'”

Applications are invited from people with experience in accountancy, law, school/higher/further education, risk management, audit, enterprise and entrepreneurship, marketing/media/public relations, and quality.

Board meetings usually take place in the late afternoon and the time commitment is five hours per month, on average.

To support the recruitment campaign, Mark Sheridan and Professor Chris O’Neil, Principal and Chief Executive of the College, are hosting a virtual information event on Wednesday 3rd November, between 6pm and 7pm. This is an opportunity to find out more about the work of the College and Board and provide more information to those interested in applying.

Email Lisa Ross, Board Secretary for a joining link for the virtual information event. Further information, including an application form, can be found here.
