Dr Andrew Duncan

Researcher/Lecturer in Data Science

andrew.duncan.ic@uhi.ac.uk

My background is mathematics, gaining undergraduate and PhD qualifications from the University of Edinburgh along with TQFE (Distinction) from University of Stirling. Since graduating I have worked for UHI Inverness in both a teaching and research role, teaching across the entire tertiary spectrum from SCQF level 4 to PhD supervision. I am currently the Programme Leader for the MSc Applied Data Analytics. For the majority of my research time, I work in collaboration with Scotland’s Rural College (SRUC) Centre for Epidemiology and Planetary Health (CEPH) based in Inverness. This work is mainly focused on data analysis and modelling disease spread, with a particular focus on movement networks. Other projects include reproducible reporting methods – including for quarterly stakeholder reports and KE through interactive online applications built with Shiny. Those that are publicly available can be found on the Epidemiology Resource Centre.
