Visits
We would be delighted to arrange a visit, or a series of visits, to your school to raise awareness of the wide range of opportunities available at UHI Inverness. We can also arrange school visits to UHI Inverness to tour our facilities and meet subject-specific or support staff.
We value our relationship with schools and strive to create quality partnerships with staff, young people and their parents or carers.
Our schools team support the Developing the Young Workforce agenda, which complements our Senior Phase offer. We can work with you on a needs-led basis to provide comprehensive information and guidance to your pupils and have a range of outreach options aligned with the Curriculum for Excellence.
Young people can develop the following career management skills as detailed in the Career Education Standard, including:
- Develop personal awareness around likes, dislikes, strengths and weaknesses
- Gather, interpret and analyse career, learning and labour market information
- Explore options in learning and work and relate this to personal priorities and strengths
- Take action to build a career pathway
We collaborate on schools activities and events with partners, including Skills Development Scotland and Developing the Young Workforce, throughout out the year.
We are happy to attend parents' evenings and option evenings to explain the opportunities that Senior Phase courses offer. We can also attend school UCAS events to provide information on the UCAS process and the importance of good quality personal statements.
If you have a number of pupils interested in a specific area of study we can organise subject specific presentations and tasters from UHI Inverness lecturers.
During the year we will host a number of subject specific events which will give information and insight into the courses, training and career opportunities within the industry of the subject area.
