The Modern Apprenticeship (MA) programme combines paid employment with work-based training for the opportunity to gain industry recognised vocational qualifications. It is aimed at both new recruits or existing employees who would like to gain skills and qualifications relevant to the nature and level of their current job without having to study full-time.

To secure funding, all Modern Apprentices must be employed. The Government contributes funding towards Modern Apprenticeship training costs and the employer meets the cost of wages and some training costs (depending on age and eligibility).
