Free Breakfast

UHI Inverness runs a breakfast club for students in response to the poverty crisis faced by young people.

All students can enjoy free toast, beans, butter and jam on both campuses between 8.30am and 11.30am, every weekday morning.

Our breakfast club is available in The Corrie canteen at the main campus and the Scottish School of Forestry at Balloch.

Lindsay Snodgrass, Vice Principal, said: “We know many of our students attend college without having breakfast, simply because they can’t afford it. Research shows that eating breakfast not only gives you energy for the morning ahead, but it also improves memory and concentration to support learning, as well as improves your mental and physical wellbeing. We know many students face significant challenges to sustain and complete their studies, so it’s important we do all we can to support them so they can progress on to positive destinations.”

A FREE lunch of winter soup and a roll is available to all UHI Inverness students.

Our lunch offer was introduced at both the Inverness Campus and the Scottish School of Forestry back in September 2022.

The free lunch of winter soup and a roll is available between 11.45pm and 2pm at The Corrie, The Lochan and the cafe at The Scottish School of Forestry.

Professor Chris O’Neil, UHI Inverness Principal and Chief Executive, said: “We are acutely aware of the impact that the rapid rise in the price of energy and essentials is having on our students, and we want to ensure that none of them go hungry. We are here to support our students and the free breakfast and lunch is part of a package of measures, under the banner Share the Warmth, that is available to help students who are struggling.”
