Nationals and Highers
You can study a range of National 4, National 5 and Higher qualifications with us.
National and Higher qualifications in Scotland are designed to develop a range of transferable skills beyond specific subject knowledge, preparing you for further education, employment and life.
These are the same SQA courses commonly offered in Scottish secondary schools, following the Scottish Curriculum for Excellence. They include a combination of coursework and externally marked assessments, with prelims, externally marked assessments and a final exam that you will sit on campus at UHI Inverness.
National 5 qualifications typically cover core subjects and are broadly equivalent to GCSEs in the rest of the UK, while Highers are the next level up and are a key qualification for entry into college or universities.
At UHI Inverness, you can study a maximum of two SQA Higher and/or National subjects in one academic year. These courses require regular study, commitment and planning, following set SQA National Qualification academic standards and timelines.
Results are issued by the Scottish Qualifications Authority in August of your exam year.
