Atlantic salmon stock assessment - integrating genetics

In our AS3IG programme we work with fisheries boards, natural resource managers and aquaculture companies to apply genetic tools to the conservation management of wild Atlantic salmon. Current AS3IG projects include: assessment of restoration stocking programmes in the River Tay  and River Ness using parentage-based genetic tagging; monitoring of wild salmon populations for genetic impacts from aquaculture escapes; and estimations of structure and effective population size for wild salmon stocks throughout the Highlands.
