For species detection and management

We develop and optimize assays and methodologies for detection of target species through eDNA, and genotyping-by-sequencing panels for population genetics. Recent projects include the development of PCR probes for monitoring European smelt in freshwater (Natural England) and blue mussel larvae in the marine plankton (Scottish Shellfish Marketing Group) and a SNP genotyping panel for flame shells (NatureScot, with PhD student Lydia McGill).
